American Financial Solutions (AFS) is a non-profit 501(c)3 financial education and credit counseling agency that assists people in over 48 states in finding solutions for managing their money and improving their financial lives. Since 1999, AFS has helped over 500,000 individuals gain control of their debts and improve their financial situation through one-on-one counseling, financial education classes and the use of debt management plans. AFS provides pre-bankruptcy counseling and post-bankruptcy education. AFS is also HUD-approved to provide housing counseling.
At the heart of the services that AFS provides to consumers are its counselors. AFS counselors are trained to help people find the most appropriate means for resolving their financial issues. This includes going the “extra mile,” to help a consumer find resources for medical care, employment services and legal assistance. In January of 2012, AFS published, Guide to Successfully Managing Medical Bills. The Guide provides helpful tips and strategies on how to handle medical bills.
AFS has been a long-standing member of the Association for Independent Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies (AICCCA).Through the membership with the AICCCA, AFS has been able to leverage its marketing dollars to reach and assist more consumers across the United States. In addition, membership in AICCCA allows AFS to have a voice with creditors. This helps in securing funding for financial education and in bringing important consumer concerns about debt management plans into an open forum. One of the most valuable benefits of AICCCA membership are the weekly legislative updates that help us to keep abreast of changes that affect our industry.
AFS is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and has been a member of the Better Business Bureau for over ten years.

Dear Consumer Credit Counseling Professional,
The Association of Independent Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies (AICCCA) is an organization dedicated to making it easier for you to carry out the important work you are engaged in.
AICCCA was founded in 1993, in response to a need to establish high industry-wide standards of service excellence and ethical conduct, and to enhance the provision of important counseling services and information to the credit consumer.
The objective of AICCCA is to promote consistent quality and delivery of consumer credit counseling services among its members.
As you are well aware, economic difficulties and hardships face a great many people in our society. The number of individuals seeking credit protection through bankruptcy continues to increase, and the number of agencies offering counseling services seems to be increasing proportionately. However, levels and quality of service are not consistent and uniformly high. It is important to all of us who are concerned with this situation to join together to ensure that the service provided to consumers is of the highest level and is guaranteed to protect their interests as well as those of the legitimate creditors seeking payment for goods and services.
AICCCA has led the charge for the development of nationwide standards of performance which serve as requirements for membership in our organization. We invite you to complete an application for membership and join with your fellow professional agencies to become a reflection of our industry's Standard of Excellence.
Feel free to contact AICCCA's headquarters for any further information you may need at 703-934-6118.
Sincerely,
David C. Jones, Ph.D.
